Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all professional cultural development programmes and services offered through Te Arawai, powered by Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. By registering for or engaging with our services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before booking.

By using our services, you agree to all our terms as outlined on this page.
Terms and Conditions
General
These terms and conditions (“Terms”) and any additional terms and conditions specified by Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (“TWoA”, “we”, “our” or “us”) apply to all Te Arawai courses or programmes (“Courses”) at TWoA.
By submitting a registration form for one of our Courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Once we have received your payment for a Course, we will confirm your place on your selected Course.
You agree:
You are 18 years of age or over;
to pay the full prescribed fee for the Course at the time of registration. All fees are payable in New Zealand dollars and are subject to applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Cancellation
Cancellation by Participant
If cancellation is received 15 Working Days or more before the scheduled start date, TWoA will refund your fee for the Course in full
If cancellation is received between 8-14 Working Days prior to the scheduled start date, TWoA will refund you 50% of the fee for the Course.
For cancellations within 5 Working Days of the scheduled start date or for non-attendance, no refund will be given.
Cancellation by TWoA
TWoA reserves the right to cancel or modify any of the Course content, delivery dates, or teaching methods if there are insufficient enrolments, unavailable resources, or other unforeseen circumstances.
If a Course is cancelled, a full refund will be given.
If a Course is rescheduled, an alternative date will be offered. If the alternative date is not suitable, you may nominate a substitute person, or, if that is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
Substitution
If you are unable to attend the Course, you may request to be substituted.
Substitution requests must be submitted to TWoA at least 5 Working Days before the Course begins. Each request will be assessed individually and will be decided at the sole discretion of TWoA.
Policies and Other Terms
You agree:
that you have read and agree to the Policies and Code of Conduct, which are accessible via the TWoA Piharoa website;
that failure to comply with the Policies may result in TWoA refusing participation or suspending or terminating your place in the Short Course without a refund;
that TWoA may update its Policies from time to time, and that Participants will be bound by such updates once formally adopted; and
to adhere to any additional terms and conditions that apply to Course as specified by TWoA.
TWoA Policies and Procedures apply to both tauira (students) and Participants. Although Participants are not considered tauira, they are still required to comply with all relevant Policies and Procedures in the same way as tauira.
Participant Responsibilities
You must provide accurate and current personal information during registration.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
You agree to use the Course materials only for lawful educational purposes and not to distribute, copy, or exploit the content for commercial purposes without our written consent. You can download and print a copy for your personal use. But you cannot make extra copies or share them with others (which includes posting Course materials on social media) under any circumstances.
You must comply with the TWoA Policies and Procedures listed below. Please note that while we refer to tauira in the Policies and Procedures, please read them as applying to you as a Participant.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing;
Auahi kore;
Information and Communication Technologies;
Intellectual property; and
Digital Tikanga;
Participant Support
TWoA Courses are designed as professional and cultural development experiences, distinct from formal study offered to tauira (students) enrolled with TWoA. While we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, Participants do not have access to the full range of tauira support services available to enrolled tauira of TWoA (such as academic, wellbeing, or pastoral care services).
If Participants require additional support during their Course , TWoA will make every effort to connect them with appropriate external services or resources.
Reporting Concerns or Complaints
We take complaints and concerns seriously. If you experience or witness any conduct which falls short of the behaviour expectations of our Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to your facilitator or to the Te Arawai General Manager by emailing tearawai@twoa.ac.nz.
We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within two (2) Working Days. We will work with you to resolve your complaint as quickly as possible, using kaupapa wānanga.
If you are not satisfied with how we have responded to your complaint, you may take the matter to the TWoA CEO, Te Kura Toroa for further reconsideration. All decisions of Te Kura Toroa will be final.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the Course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion (Tohu).
Privacy
We collect, use, and store personal information in accordance with our Privacy Notice for Courses .
By participating in a Course , you consent to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
Disclaimers
The Course is provided “as is” and we make no guarantees regarding outcomes, employment, or academic credit.
We do not accept responsibility for technical issues, loss of data, or any damages resulting from access to or use of the Course .
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TWoA is not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your participation in the Course .
Definitions
“Participant(s)” means all persons currently enrolled in TWoA Courses which do not lead to a qualification.
“Course(s) ”means any not-for-credit learning activity offered by TWoA that does not lead to the award of a qualification. Participants in Courses are not considered enrolled tauira of TWoA.
“Working Day” means any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or a public holiday officially observed in the Auckland region of New Zealand, on which banks and government offices are generally open for business.
Code of Conduct
Purpose
This Code of Conduct (“Code”) outlines the expected behaviour of all participants (“Participants”, “you”, “your”) registered in a Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (“TWoA”, “our”, “we”, “us”) course or programme (“Course”) to ensure a respectful, safe, and productive learning environment for everyone.
TWoA Values
All Participants are expected to act in a manner that upholds the values of TWoA:
Te Whakapono: The basis of our beliefs and the confidence that what we are doing is right.
Ngā Ture: The knowledge that our actions are morally and ethically right and that we are acting in an honourable way.
Te Aroha: Having regard for one another and those for whom we are responsible and to whom we are accountable.
Kotahitanga: Unity amongst iwi and other ethnicities; standing as one.
These values guide how we learn, interact, and grow together, and help us create a supportive, respectful, and empowering learning environment for all.
Expectations
In line with our values, all Participants are expected to:
Treat everyone with dignity, respect, and care
Act with honesty and integrity
Follow all instructions from facilitators
Use appropriate language and maintain professionalism during discussions
Be inclusive and considerate of cultural, religious, and personal differences
Work collaboratively where possible, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Harassment and Discrimination
Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or any inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.
Consequences of Misconduct
Failure to follow this Code may result in:
A verbal or written warning
Removal from specific activities or sessions
Dismissal from your Course without refund

These resources are provided exclusively for your personal use as a Participant in a Course at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
